REPLICA ALLEN & THURBER PEPPERBOX 6 SHOTS 1837

Q: Is this replica of the Pepperbox 1837 functional or just decorative?

Q: Is this replica of the Pepperbox 1837 functional or just decorative?

This is a non-functional historical replica. It is mainly intended for collection, exhibition, and reenactment. It replicates the mechanical and aesthetic elements of the original, but it is not designed for firing real ammunition.

Q: Does the multi-barrel rotate like the original model?

Q: What differences does it have compared to more common revolvers like the Colt 1873?

Allen & Thurber Pepperbox, a Classic with History and Presence

The Pepperbox pistol was a widely used defensive solution in the first half of the 19th century because it offered multiple shots without the need for immediate reloading. Between 1837 and 1847, very few units were documented (according to historical sources, only six units of certain models), which increases its historical value and uniqueness. Kolser’s replica recovers that aura: visual weight, presence, and a finish that stands out in any display case.

Why Choose Kolser?

Kolser is synonymous with artisanal tradition and historical accuracy. We offer pieces that combine aesthetic fidelity, durable materials, and premium finishes, designed for collectors and exhibition spaces. This Pepperbox stands out for its visual realism, build quality, and attention to detail, values that define our historical reproductions.

Frequently Asked Questions about our Allen & Thurber Pepperbox Replica

Is this replica of the Pepperbox 1837 functional or just decorative?

This is a non-functional historical replica. It is mainly intended for collection, exhibition, and reenactment. It replicates the mechanical and aesthetic elements of the original, but it is not designed for firing real ammunition.

Does the multi-barrel rotate like the original model?

The piece preserves the appearance and configuration of the historic model manufactured by Allen & Thurber. In our replica, the multi-barrel assembly is built and assembled to visually reproduce the original system and can be rotated manually.

Is it faithful to the original model produced by Allen & Thurber in 1837?

Yes. Kolser has reproduced proportions, engravings, and finishes inspired by the 1837 design. While the replica uses modern materials (metal and resin) to enhance durability, the look and aesthetics respect the character of the original.

What differences does it have compared to more common revolvers like the Colt 1873?

Unlike the Colt 1873 (a single-barrel revolver with a rotating cylinder), the Pepperbox features multiple parallel barrels instead of a rotating drum. Its geometry, ergonomics, and presence are different: the Pepperbox emphasizes a silhouette composed of multiple barrels, compared to the longer and more conventional design of the Colt.

A company that truly delivers on its promise of quality design. Their old west replicas are lifelike, weighty, pretty, and combine the realism of a very accurate representation of the historical guns with the fun and safe aspect of a simulated firing mechanism that can pop toy caps (and quite loudly at that too!).

I got the Colt SAA (commonly known as the "Peacemaker" among other names) with a wooden grip and I am very satisfied. If you are interested in adding a quality replica to your collection, a realistic prop for your next cowboy outfit/cosplay or simply a great showpiece to have, I wholeheartedly recommend Kolser's products.

A special shout out and thank you to their marketing team for their impeccable customer support.
