18TH CENTURY FRENCH PERCUSSION PISTOL

Ref: 47-1103 Categories ,

A faithful replica of a French percussion pistol from the 18th century — a model that rose to prominence during the reign of Louis XV, whose misrule helped lay the foundations for the French Revolution.

Kolser preserves the original style and shape of this beautiful flintlock pistol. It measures 32 centimetres and is crafted from resin and silver-toned metal. This type of weapon was most commonly used in duels — whether first shot, first blood, or the infamous duel to the death.

These weapons were meant to feel like an extension of the duellist’s arm, and it was common for French and Belgian pistols to feature rifled barrels — designed to give the projectile greater precision. A splendid piece that, when held, evokes the nobility of those who once defended their honour through duels.
