Olaya explains how these replicas not only meet filmmakers\u2019 expectations in terms of functionality and realism, but also make it easier to create striking scenes without the risks associated with using real weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We now welcome Manuel Olaya, who tells us first-hand about his experience working on the project and shares his views on the use of replica weapons in the film industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is your favorite scene in the film?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRight at the end, during the final sequence. The music plays a crucial role there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How did you discover our brand?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m a keen follower of everything connected with this historical period and, during one of my visits to Armer\u00eda Leonardo in Almer\u00eda, I came across the Kolser brand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What has your overall experience been like using our replica weapons? Did they meet your expectations?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI would say they are fantastic and, of course, they met our expectations. They are more functional than other brands and, for those of us who make films, we particularly liked their ejection and firing mechanisms, especially on the rifles. They help us create very cinematic shots without having to use real weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXeOmw2ZXmNZaXyJYpKRscdvo86FK9w1wTjQWG5V5E-5dbrk94UEyl5M5pwRyaUWkU9EtmaPgQbBGXeYlmmELq6Fvtoo-9caL-vRbLrHmrLCcOTDyzIAbe-DwTYwJcXf2kMcQBJxiUVSFGV5vklSrBg9-Bvk?key=y165uZr6iaOZe6zTDsaR6A\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Was there any particular feature you especially liked about the replicas, such as their weight, level of detail or realism?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe realism, the finish and, of course, the materials are all very good quality and durable. Perhaps one thing that could be improved on the rifles would be using wood rather than synthetic materials. Apart from that, everything was excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Did you encounter any challenges or drawbacks when using the replicas?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNone that I can remember at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How did the actors and props team react to our replica weapons? Did they make their work easier or cause any concerns?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey were very easy to work with. We were very satisfied.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From your perspective, what trends do you see in Western films when it comes to the use of replica weapons?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy understanding is that the Wild West period extends from the end of the American Civil War through to the 1890s. The weapons that genuinely belong to that period, without being anachronistic, are therefore the best known, although there are still certain models that collectors like me would like to see represented. Hollywood often shows us something that was similar to reality, but not exactly the same. Weapons were not used in quite the way films often portray them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carrying a weapon could obviously be a form of protection, but the idea of people constantly shooting in every direction was more associated with the Indian Wars or the Civil War. Not everyone could afford to own a gun either, because they were expensive. Life in the rougher frontier towns, including cattle towns such as Tombstone, Abilene and Dodge City, gave Hollywood plenty of inspiration for Western films. There was indeed violence in these towns. Cowboys would arrive after spending three or four months riding and driving cattle, and they wanted to spend their money on gambling and other pleasures, which inevitably led to trouble.
